Atomic Learning Assessment

I took the atomic learning assessment. What an eye-opener. Score of 47. I had felt pretty good about my computer skills, but .....not anymore. I'm ok with text, but in the photo, sound, video, & numeric areas I need lots of work yet. Guess it gives me a benchmark to know what kind of classes I should take & what kind of software I should work with. It's a never ending road of knowledge isn't it? Follow the technology road.....:o)

new sites to linkin'logs

I have added a couple of new sites to my linkin' logs in the past few days and wanted to share them with my colleagues.

Since we are now studying money in math, I went to the US Mint site http://www.usmint.gov/kids/flashIndex.cfm

It has lots of fun activities & pictures for kids. I was trying to explain that there will be a new nickel & the kids were giving me that "huh" look...so I went to the coins section & showed them what it will look like. There is even a puzzle of the new Nebraska quarter to put together. You need a certain flashplayer to do the games, but it is easy to download & install if you follow the links at the sight. Check it out.

The other site is from our nutrition unit Mypyramid.com,
http://www.mypyramid.gov/kids/index.html
It is an ok site, not really colorful or flashy, but does have some good info.

And thanks to Linda Taylor, I've added the Everett Eagle Blog site too.
http://everetteagles.blogspot.com/
It has some pictures & stories from some of the kids she works with. I'm hoping to post about our latest activity on communities & bus schedules on this site with pictures. This would be a great example of use of a digital camera in the classroom. (Hey, Lynn...maybe Linda T. could be part of your grant too :o)

GoogleGroup email

I'm trying to get the googlegroup email to send notices to you when I have posted a new message to my blog. So this test post is to see if it is working. Thanks for your patience as I work out the bugs. :o)

Linkin' Logs Set Up & Runnin'

I've go my Linkin' Log sites all set up (the ones that I have as of today). It took a couple of hours (mainly because I have a ton of bookmarks on my home computer), but it was pretty painless. I opened Explorer to find the bookmarks that I had marked already & then I also opened Firefox. It was easy to switch between the 2, so I could cut & paste the site addresses easily. Now all I have to do is keep adding new ones to them. I'm hoping to visit some of the other Linkin' Log sites to see if I can find some other great sites that I want to add to mine. It feels really good to have this done. Now I will be able to find sites on any machine...at home, at school, or whereever I may be. :o) YEAH!!! Don't ya just love that feeling of accomplishment. If you have a minute check out my Linkin' Logs & let me know what you think...I welcome any comments/ideas. Thanks...Jules :o) http://misc.lps.org/misc/linkinlogs/userfront.cfm?userName=jspicke

Linkin' Logs set up

I have set up my linkin' logs and have quite a few categories already. Click on the title of this post for a link to my Linkin' Logs. I think that this will be a great way to access my internet links. Everyone should consider this method. Thanks to Lynn for all of her legwork or should I say "fingerwork" to get this account set & for encouragement to try it out. :o) Jules
